Franco-Israeli architect and designer Emmanuelle Simon draws on Ibiza’s contrasting mountains, beach and city to create Ibiza Pied-à-Terre.
The lime-plastered home unites sculpture, art, and nature within a living environment. Its setting, Simon explains, “captures a rare balance in Ibiza: between the island’s vibrant energy, the force of the sea, and the calm of the hills.”
Hallmarks of Simon’s Art Deco sensibility and wabi-sabi philosophy are expressed through raw, natural, and mineral elements, most notably in the kitchen’s central island, which Simon says is “carved from a single block of rock.” Like many of the materials, the rock was locally sourced, seen again throughout the flooring and sculpted forms in the home. The curation of artworks was a collaborative effort between Emmanuelle Simon and the clients, evident in the dining area through Guim Tió’s Tornada (2023) and signed works on paper by Thomas Gleb.
